Most kids struggle with who they are and what they want to become—they need and want heroes they can admire and emulate. Kids often see in sports heroes what they yearn to see in themselves: the ability to overcome weakness, fear, or insecurity, to be brave and kind. Kids need heroes, but they also can learn to be heroes.

Game Day Central-Where Heroes Are MadeTM, helped this week's participants learn to become heroes by focusing on Jesus and following God’s plan for their lives. Carefully selected Bible stories introduced biblical heroes who overcame inadequacies: Mary and Joseph; John the Baptist; early believers; Priscilla and Aquila; and even Jesus, the greatest HERO of all. Everyone discovered that true heroes are not created on a football field, basketball court, or in a baseball stadium.

Of course, every game has its challenges. Often, key plays seem almost impossible to complete, but they become the highlights of the game. Each day of Game Day Central presented participants with a daily “Hero Challenge” designed to help them put the actions of a true hero into play in their own lives.

Let us run the race that is before us
and never give up...Let us look only
to Jesus, the One who began our faith and who makes it perfect.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Almighty High was led by an amazing crew of adult volunteers and youth volunteers.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for making this an incredible week for the many children who sought out and explored God's promises.

Special thanks to two of God's most awesome HEROES, Lori & Traci!!!  They joined with Coach Dale to make Almighty High come alive.  Special thanks, too, to Jana Prichett, 2007 coordinator of Game Day Central!
