Summer is usually a time for kids to relax and enjoy a slower schedule, but, most summers, the kids at Sierra Vista are exceptionally active working for the Kingdom. They do everything from deliver meals to the elderly to help build low-income housing to read to young children. They also eat a good bit and play, too, but, each year, their hearts are so giving as they visit places like Meals for the Elderly, Trinity Wesley UMC Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, the Salvation Army, the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank, and Child Protective Services’ Rainbow Room. They put in countless volunteer hours at these local charities, also donating food items, baby items, and used clothing.

Vacation Bible School
VBS at Sierra Vista is a big deal! Each year at VBS, kids 4 years old through 6th graders experience God’s unstoppable love and discover how to live a life filled with God. Our church comes alive with movement and all varieties of kid-friendly images. The VBS adventure always includes music that will wow your ears, interactive Bible fun, super science, cool crafts, hands-on mission work, delicious snacks, great games, and more.

Adult and youth are also encouraged to sign up to help!

 Mission: Possible
Each summer, kids at Sierra Vista donate hours of their time to various locations throughout the Concho Valley. The “Mission: Possible” program is geared toward all kids who will be entering the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.

Two days a month for June, July, and August from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., parents can drop-off and pick-up their participating children in the front Sierra Vista parking lot. Kids will meet at Sierra Vista, travel to the “mission site” on the SVUMC bus, and have a fun lunch afterwards.

Every Mission: Possible child also gets a t-shirt to wear on our mission mini-trips. Email now if you need to order shirt(s) for your child(ren).

Care & Share

Younger elementary kids at Sierra Vista also get a chance to do mission work each summer. Children going into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades are invited to spend the morning on the Sierra Vista campus helping others with pint-sized mission work. These “Care and Share” mornings also include snacks, fun, and play time.

Pastor Blaster

For one exciting day each summer, Sierra Vista children are invited to enjoy fellowship time, water fun, and summer sunshine with other kids, as well as Pastors Tamara and Stan. For all this fun, kids bring their own water guns and swim suits. The Church provides a pizza lunch and the water!
