Sierra Vista offers a variety of activities and services for older adults:

Fun Fest
Fun Fest is held every 1st Tuesday of the month and consists of three hours of fun, food and fellowship.  This is an opportunity for the seniors to gather and visit, play games, have a short devotional and enjoy a covered dish meal with the church staff.  It is a wonderful time of sharing and allows the seniors and church staff to spend time together.

SAM's
SAM's, a monthly Senior Adult Ministry meeting, is held every 3rd Tuesday.  We offer a variety of informative and enjoyable activities such as book reviews, visits to local attractions such as the new Art Museum, informational talks by special speakers and occasional out of town trips.  Each meeting concludes with a Dutch Treat lunch at a local restaurant.  We occasionally have an overnight trip for this group.

Circuit Singers
Usually on the second Tuesday of each month, we take the Cokesbury hymnal music on the road to Nursing Homes and Retirement communities throughout the city and ask the residents to sing along with us. Then we head to lunch to fellowship together.

Bus Ministry
Our Bus Ministry provides transportation to any senior who is unable to drive.  Transportation is provided to all Senior Adult activities, as well as for Sunday School and Worship.

Sunday School
Sunday School classes are available for men, women and couples.

Pumpkin Patch
Our Pumpkin Patch is a favorite activity of the Senior Adults.  The youth and senior adults work together to sell pumpkins to help with various church needs.  The bus for the Bus Ministry was purchased with a portion of these funds.

Piecemakers
The Vista Piecemakers meet each Monday and Friday morning to quilt.  Many seniors participate in this endeavor.  This group has quilted over 100 quilts and generally has at least two quilts going at one time.

Home Bound and Hospitalized

  • Home bound and hospitalized Seniors are visited at least once every two weeks, more if necessary.
  • They receive communion in their homes monthly.
  • The congregation is invited to send cards to our homebound seniors during special times such as Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter. Each person will receive 8-10 cards.
  • Our audio tape ministry provides a tape of the weekly worship services for each homebound Senior who wishes to receive one.

Large Print Hymnals and Hearing Devices
Large print hymnals and hearing devices are available at all services.

Senior Adult Ministries Council
The newly-formed Senior Adult Ministries Council meets at least quarterly to determine how the church can better meet the needs of our senior adult membership.
