Many opportunities beyond Sunday mornings are available to both children and families for becoming an engaged member of the Body of Christ.

Every child who participates in activities at Sierra Vista UMC should have a completed and current permission form on file in the Church Office.

Permission Form

Children, grades third through fifth, may participate as acolytes during the Sunday worship services. Training is provided, and these children learn the importance of serving during worship times. Children who are interested should contact Jenny Love at

Kids in Christ’s Kingdom (KICK)
KICK activities make up Sierra Vista’s mid-week program – a program that is available for any child, kindergarten through 5th grade. KICK Kids participate in active Bible study, recreation, creative arts, and mission projects, as well as children’s choir. KICK kids are also those who provide the annual Children’s Christmas Program, as well as a Children-Led Worship in late April.

Parents need to make sure that they have completed current registration and permission cards for all children and should plan to sign their children in and out of the KICK program in Sierra Vista’s Life Center Gym.

Registration and Permission card

KICK is scheduled from mid-September through the end of April, excluding school holidays, and runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday.
After-school pick-up is available at Bonham, Lamar, and Wall Elementary Schools. Parents who want their children included in the after-school pick-up need to complete this form.

Bus Pick-up Permission Form

All participants are asked for a $15 donation per child per semester to cover supply and food costs.

Adult volunteers welcomed & encouraged to participate!

 Children’s Music

During our mid-week program, all ages participate in Children’s Choir. Sharing Christian music together makes up one of the activities in the KICK program.

Children, grades 2nd through 5th grades, who crave additional music time can join the children’s hand bell choir after KICK with Linda Sylva. The Vista Ringers, the kid’s hand bell choir, meet in the Bell Room at 5:30 p.m. For more information, contact Linda Sylva (325) 944-4041, ext. 249, or by emailing her at

 Children’s Council

Sierra Vista is blessed by an advisory board that meets September through May to guide and direct the ministries for families and children. Members are selected by the Lay Leadership Committee and serve a three-year term. Anyone is welcome at the Children’s Council’s meetings, which are generally on the second Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Mary-Martha Sunday School classroom (room N-4 right off the Narthex).
