* * (Tuesday, March 30) As I searched for guidance I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. . . . When I saw "G," I thought of God, followed by "U" and "I." God, U and I dance. As I let go and let God, I know that I will get guidance in my life . . . when I let God lead. -original

It was God who held them steady. Those same hands that formed the oceans and built the mountains. Those same hands that designed the dawn and crafted each cloud. Those same hands that blueprinted one incredible plan for you and me. Take a stroll out to the hill. Out to Calvary. Out to the cross where, with holy blood, the hand that placed you on the planet wrote the promise, "God would give up his only Son before he'd give up on you." from Six Hours One Friday by Max Lucado * * * * * * * * * * * (Sunday, March 21) We condemn a man for stumbling this morning, but we didn't see the blows he took yesterday. We judge a woman for the limp in her walk, but cannot see the tack in her shoe. We mock the fear in their eyes, but have no idea how many stones they have ducked or darts they have dodged. Are they too loud? Perhaps they fear being neglected again. Are they too timid? Perhaps they fear failing again. Too slow? Perhaps they fell the last time they hurried. You don't know. Only one who has followed yesterday's steps can be their judge. Not only are we ignorant about yesterday, we are ignorant about tomorrow. Dare we judge a book while chapters are yet unwritten? Should we pass a verdict on a painting while the artist still holds the brush? How can you dismiss a soul until God's work is complete? "God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again" (Phil. 1:6). from In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado * * * * * * * * * * * (Monday,
March 15) WE CRUCIFY
OURSELVES BETWEEN TWO THIEVES: How often we
look upon God as our last and feeblest resource. We go to Him
because we have nowhere else to go. And then we learn that the
storms of life have driven us, not upon the rocks, but into the desired
haven. from Splashes of Joy in the Cesspools of Life by Barbara Johnson * * * * * * * * * * * (Thursday,
March 11) IT'S YOUR CHOICE On one side stands the crowd. Jeering. Baiting. Demanding. On the other stands a peasant. Swollen lips. Lumpy eye. Lofty promise. One promises acceptance, the other a cross. One offers flesh and flash, the other offers faith. The crowd challenges, "Follow us and fit in." Jesus promises, "Follow me and stand out." They promise to please. God promises to save. God looks at you and asks, "Which will be your choice?" If people want
to follow me, they must give up the things they want. They must be
willing even to give up their lives to follow me. -from A Gentle Thunder by Max Lucado * * * * * * * * * * * (Wednesday, March 10) ANNOUNCING THESE NEW

from Splashes of Joy in the Cesspools of Life by Barbara Johnson * * * * * * * * * * * (Sunday, March 7) This is the
message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and
in him there is no darkness at all. Late one Sunday night I remembered that I had left my sheet music in the church sanctuary. I had led our church's choirs and orchestra in presenting two concerts and then had gone to a restaurant to eat with a group of friends. When I returned to the church to retrieve my music, all the lights had been turned off. As I entered the cavernous sanctuary, I noticed that one of the battery-powered aisle candles had been left on. The battery was almost drained, and the tiny light was barely glowing. Yet it was to that faint point of light that my eyes had been drawn as soon as I entered the church. The light of Christ in our lives is very much like that tiny candle. No matter how great the darkness, it can never cover or obliterate the light of Christ. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life" (John 8:12). Because we are followers of Christ, his presence lights our lives each day. --Steve
Vincent * * * * * * * * * * * (Friday, March 5) Some of us have tried to have a daily quiet time and have not been successful. Others of us have a hard time concentrating. And all of us are busy. So rather than spend time with God, listening for his voice, we'll let others spend time with him and then benefit from their experience. Let them tell us what God is saying. After all, isn't that why we pay preachers? . . . If that is your approach, if your spiritual experiences are secondhand and not firsthand, I'd like to challenge you with this thought: Do you do that with other parts of your life? . . . You don't do that with vacations. . . . You don't do that with romance. . . . You don't let someone eat on your behalf, do you? [There] are certain things no one can do for you And one of those is spending time with God. from Just Like Jesus by Max Lucado * * * * * * * * * * * (Thursday,
March 4) FAULT LINES Did you know criticism isn't a ministry? The way a lot of people act, you'd think it's their calling. They can find more faults than a California geologist. I try not to spend much time around critical people. They wear me down. I can do a hundred things right and they won't say a word. But if I mess up one time, they'll be on my doorstep faster than firemen en route to my kitchen. Some people try to disguise their negative comments by calling them "constructive criticism." "You really should wear more makeup. Haven't you heard the 'alive' look is in?" "Your oral report was great. It helped me catch up on all the sleep I've been missing." "Your solo was wonderful. You hit all the right notes. Next time, try to hit them in order." Maybe there is such a thing as constructive criticism, but too often "constructive" criticism is destructive. It's not tempered with sensitivity and it comes from a less-than-helpful heart. I've worked with many teenagers and I know they can hear compliments all day long, but that one critical comment is what will stick with them. Adults aren't much different. Sure, we all need to know when we're making a mistake, not putting forth our best effort, or completely lousing up. But wouldn't it be better if we spent our time offering constructive encouragement instead? from If

"LIFE IS A GAMBLE," a Mother Cabbage told her offspring, Brussels Sprout. "You have to weather storms and drought. You have to fend off animals, bugs, mold, and rot. But if you hang in there, you'll grow." "I'll try," said the little Sprout. "But how long does this take? When Should I stop growing? "As with any other gamble," said Mother Cabbage... ...... ...... ...... ...... ...... ...... "Quit when you're a head." from More of The Best of Bits & Pieces * * * * * * * * *
