"Zits" by by Jerry Scott & Jim Borgman * * * * * * * * * * * (Tuesday, January 11) "It's all right--questions, pain, stabbing anger can be poured out to the Infinite One . . . Our wounded raggings will be lost in him and we will be found. For we beat on his chest from within the circle of his arms." --Susan
Lenzkes from When Life Takes What Matters * * * * * * * * * * * (Monday, January 10) When a child behaves badly, the child's mother loves him just the same. She may be grieved, disappointed, hurt to the point of being angry, but nothing the child can do will ever destroy her love. If that is true of imperfect human love, how much more so God's love! It is God's nature to love us. Nothing we can do or fail to do can stop the shining of that great love. Our misdeeds often make us turn our backs on God's love. In that case, we have left Him--He has not left us. He is still there loving us, yearning over us. This is what the New Testament means by one of its oft-repeated words "grace." Grace is "the unmerited favor of God." If we doubt it, we have only to look at the Cross. from Moments that Matter by Catherine Marshall * * * * * * * * * * * (Saturday, January 8)
Wear Jesus' Hat "May I have your hat when you leave?" my host asked politely. "Oh, certainly!" I replied. The unusual request surprised me a bit, but I was forewarned that it was a culturally accepted practice here. "Sure, you can wear my hat, but can you think like me?" I tried to humor him. To wear one's hat implies to have the same attitude or the thinking process in this man's culture. Jesus most likely wore no hat, but the apostle Paul insisted that all believers "wear Jesus' hat":
Many of us have several different
roles that we play. Some of these roles even come with quite
impressive titles. Yet one hat we need to wear all the time, and the most
important role we live, involves "wearing Jesus' hat."
Though this "hat" is
invisible, our servant attitude and humility should be plainly demonstrated to
all around us. The humility of Christ brought Him down to us and took Him
up to the Cross for us. He gave up the glory, the prestige, and the
security of heaven to be one of us.
How will others know I wear His hat? When they can count on me to serve them as Jesus did!

EMAIL * * * * * * * * * * * (Friday, January 7, 2005) Dear
Father, help me this year... from Reflections for Each Day From the Classic, Leaves of Gold * * * * * * * * * * * (Wednesday, January 5, 2005) A brand new year!!! May yours be filled to overflowing with God's blessings!!! RECIPE FOR A PROSPEROUS, PEACEFUL YEAR Take twelve, fine, full-grown months, see that these are free from all old memories of bitterness, rancor, hate and jealousy; cleanse them completely from every clinging spite: pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness; in short, see that these months are freed as much as possible from the past. Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts. This batch will keep for just one year. Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (so many persons spoil the entire lot in this way), but prepare one day at a time, as follows: Into each day put twelve
parts of faith, Put in about a teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor. Pour in a large helping of love and mix with a vim. Cook thoroughly in a fervent heat; garnish with a few smiles and a sprig of joy; then serve with quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness ... and a Happy New Year is certain. =========================== We
could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some
are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they
all have to learn to live in the same box. Yeah,
you can send this Funny to anybody you want. And, if you're REAL nice,
you'll tell them where you got it! www.MikeysFunnies.com
