FOR A DEAR FRIEND

When the subject of friendship comes along
I always think of you,
Not only on the special days
But each day the whole year through.

I think of the kind words you send my way
When I'm sad or feeling down.
They brighten my spirits and lift my soul
And vanish away that ol' frown.

It's the little things that you so often do
That are near and dear to my heart;
The wink and the smile, the shoulder and ear -
It's those things that set you apart.

The way you accept my different moods,
Whether joyous or chatty or sad -
How you sit by the hour and listen to me gripe
When I'm grumpy or just plain MAD!

You've paid me the highest honor that exists
Between two friends who share -
The honor of seeing a glimpse of your soul
And the beauty that's hidden there.

So thank you, my friend, for the person that you are
And for all that you say and do.
But most of all, I thank God above
For sending me a FRIEND LIKE YOU!!!
